Driving Innovation in America’s Heartland
The North Central Region stands as the backbone of U.S. food and agriculture—a powerhouse of research, innovation, and technology. Our diverse landscapes and farming practices serve as a dynamic proving ground for pioneering solutions that strengthen food security, safeguard natural resources, and improve lives across rural and urban communities alike. In the face of increasing pressures from extreme weather, resource constraints, and evolving global demands, our institutions remain at the forefront—developing science-driven strategies that empower farmers, ranchers, food processors, and policymakers.
agInnovation North Central unites researchers from 1862, 1890, and 1994 institutions across 12 states—Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Through strategic partnerships with federal agencies, private industry, and key stakeholders, we tackle the most urgent challenges and deliver data-driven solutions that ensure resilient, profitable agricultural systems while enhancing environmental sustainability and economic vitality. Our work not only strengthens American agriculture but also contributes to global innovations that address food security and stability in an increasingly complex world.
